When an island’s locals call their land “Love City” with pride, it’s only natural that it’s also gay-friendly, welcoming couples of all kinds to put their relationships out in the open. The smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, this wee destination is simply too little to have any type of “gay” scene, but you certainly won’t feel its lack. In fact, most visitors are drawn to the fact that it is the least commercial of the three sister islands, with two-thirds of its land formally designated as a national park.
If you’ve ever wondered how a Rockefeller relaxes and romances, this is the place to answer that question. Of those parklands, much of it was donated by Laurance Rockefeller back in 1956, who laid down the condition that the property be protected against future development so that future generations could enjoy the island’s natural beauty. Thanks to him, secluded beaches, swaying sea grape trees and coconut palms, and fascinating reefs outnumber the lovely upscale boutiques and waterfront restaurants that help vacationers kick back in luxury and style.
Located on the south west coast of St. John, The Westin St. John Resort & Villas is set on 47 lush acres and offers a 1,200 foot-long, crescent-shaped beach leading to the turquoise waters of Great Cruz Bay.
