Miami

Beautiful beaches filled with beautiful people, rousing nightlife and irresistible music, gorgeous art and stylish Art Deco design…it could only be Miami. And this sultry city knows it’s only as hot of a destination as it is thanks to its long history of being an open and popular destination for the trendsetting LGBT crowd. A sprawling metropolis, it has plenty of gay neighborhoods, but the queen of them all is still chic South Beach. The scene to be “scene,” queer or straight, this neon-lit, pastel-painted neighborhood of retro charm is the pulsing heart of Miami, where you can count on stumbling upon one amazing restaurant after another on Collins and Washington, punctuated with dance clubs, bars, and lounges that will have you on your feet in no time. And don’t forget Lincoln Road, a pedestrian-only zone rife with street performers, shoppers, theater-goers, and entertainment for all.

Although SoBe is the star shore of this destination, the 12th Street Beach and Haulover, the Magic City’s official nude beach, have charms of their own. Likewise Coconut Grove, where Bohemian members of the LGBT community made their homes in the 1960s. More recent gentrification has added Downtown Miami—the business district by day, post-nightclub and luxury hotel bar scene by night—to the list, along with the artsy Design District just north. Influence is expanding there, with galleries and dining/drinking venues spreading into Edgewater and Belle Meade, in addition to Miami Shores.

As glitzy as it may be, this city is still a fantastic choice for families as well. Get a taste of exotic culture in Little Havana and Little Haiti, or brush up on our own with a full tour of the Art Deco Historic District. Experience Miracle Mile on Coral Gables to be amazed by its offerings, or take an easy drive to the Everglades National Park. No matter what, this Latin city by the Keys is caliente.
